In our group we have Andrea, Elise and ClareWe have decided to make our robot look like a penguin. This is how we got the name Penguilina.
The song our group has chosen to do is the Black Eyed Peas “Hey Ya”
Term 1: Clare: During term one, we got a lot of our robotics done including building it and deciding what our robots going to be. When Andrea had the idea for our robot to be a penguin we all loved it and agreed to do it. When it came to us building it, next doors group was a big help. There were some technical difficulties with the robot but they weren’t major so we could fix them easily. Some of the difficulties were that the legs kept falling off and the wires getting caught under the wheels. To solve the wiring getting caught under the wheels we used cable ties and to solve the leg falling off problem we made the used more parts to make the legs stronger. When we built it next doors group helped us. They were a really big help.
Elise: Our work in term one was great. We listened to what everyone had to say and had a fun time. Clare was right about the technical difficulties but it was good that we could fix them. It was Andrea’s idea to do a penguin but we all agreed on it straight away. We were going to have a penguin playing drums but then decided it would be too difficult. In term one, we mainly focused on building the robot and adding things to it e.g. sensors. Term one was when we had to mainly work with the group next door who were really co-operative and great to work with. They helped us build and adjust the robot.
Andrea: Term one, was really fun and great. The difficulties we had were already mentioned by both Elise and Clare. We mainly focused on building it in term one and figuring out what it was going to be. It was my idea to do a penguin and everyone agreed. It was the first thing that popped into my head. Next door helped us build the robot which was great of them.
Term 2: Clare: Term 2 was really great as well. We had some difficulties with the dance with what to do for it. At one point we had accidentally deleted a move but it was easy enough to get it back. Our song choice was “Hey Ya” by the Black Eyed Pea’s because it’s a good beat and it just a great song. The costume we made out of paper because we were a bit to focused on the dance so we didn’t leave enough time for the costume. The costume had to look like a penguin which it does. Elise: Term 2 was a bit more challenging as we had to prepare a dance for it to do. We also had to make a costume for it. Our costume isn’t the best but it’s still good. If we left ourselves a bit more time on top of preparing the dance our costume would have been better. The difficulties we had was getting the dance ready and trying to get it to move the beat of the music. Like Clare said, we accidentally deleted a move but it was easy enough to get it back.
